Jacksonville police believe crime spree is by same man using dating networks to find prey – The Florida Times-Union

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an alarming series of crimes on the Westside likely by the same man who’s using dating websites to find his prey.

Four armed robberies of individuals have reported since March and two sexual assaults in May in the area of South Lane and Manotak avenues by a black male, about 5-foot-10 and 220 pounds with low, coarse hair and a medium complexion, the Sheriff’s Office said. Investigators believe it could by the same person.

The pattern involves the suspect engaging the victims via dating websites and other social networks. The Sheriff’s Office is cautioning anyone using social media for dating purposes to meet in a public place and not go alone.

Anyone with information can contact the Sheriff’s Office at (904) 630-0500 or First Coast Crime Stoppers at (866) 845-8477 (845-TIPS) to remain anonymous and be eligible for rewards. Or email JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org or rewards@fccrimestoppers.com.
