More than two years ago, James Stennies was fatally shot at a Reynoldsburg car wash.
Now the Blacklick man’s family and Central Ohio Crime Stoppers are offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and/or an indictment in the case.
Reynoldsburg police officers reported hearing a popping sound that resembled gunshots at the Miracle Car Wash on the 600 block of Lancaster Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m. on April 22, 2017.
Officers rushed to the scene to find Stennies, 59, lying in the car wash parking lot with a gunshot wound in his chest.
Paramedics pronounced him dead a short time later.
His car, a 2001 Volvo, was found in the bay area of the car wash a short distance away. Investigators believe he had tried to run from the shooter.
Police found his keys, wallet and cellphone in his pockets.
Stennies had recently finished working one of his two jobs and was washing his car in preparation for a trip to Indiana to attend a funeral, police investigators determined.
No one called police to report the shooting, and investigators have no witnesses.
